Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has asked whether the BJP-ruled states would conduct 100 per cent testing for all migrants returning to their States.
Countering the allegations made by Odisha BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan on 100% testing for all migrants returning to Odisha, BJD spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said that 80 lakhs to 1 crore migrants have returned to BJP-ruled states like UP, Bihar and MP. Would the BJP and its spokespersons have the moral courage to ask the CMs in those states to undertake 100% testing of all migrants? They do not have that courage”.
“Why these double standards? When about 30-40 lakh tests have been done so far in India, do the BJP ruled states have the capacity to test close to one crore migrants those have returned?, he asked.
The BJP should atleast believe the guidelines laid down by their party’s Government and its health Ministry and ICMR. The guidelines state that testing of symptomatic persons should only be done. That is scientific in nature, he said.
The BJP should believe in science and follow the guidelines of its own Government’s Ministry and stop playing cheap politics at these trying times of COVID pandemic, the BJD spokesperson said.
The situation in Odisha is under control and testing is being done as per ICMR guidelines, he added.
