Bhubaneswar: Principal Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) Asit Tripathy visited Sundargarh district today and reviewed the field level progress of developmental projects, more particularly the projects relating to crop diversification, cash crop cultivation, promotion of local entrepreneurs for micro and small scale enterprises, downstream industries in steel sector, horticulture, diary and other livelihood enhancement projects.
After reaching the district, Tripathy reviewed these projects with district level officers. He directed District Industrial Promotion Agency (DIPA) to undertake a study on the possibilities of further industrial units in the district. The agency was asked to submit its report in fifteen days.
Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan was asked to prepare an agricultural strategy plan for the district. It was targeted to enhance sesame cultivation to the extent of 30,000 hectors.
Tripathy directed to increase groundnut cultivation along with sesame. The district administration was further asked to identify land across the river Deo in Kumarmunda and Nuagaon block areas for development of industrial estates. The issues relating to inclusion of some areas of Sundargarh under milk procurement route was also discussed in the meeting.
After the review, Tripathy visited indoor and outdoor stadiums at Sundargarh, Chikki making center by the WSHGs at Siripula, Fishery pond at Sanapatrapali, mixed banana plantation in Tangiripli block, 2×1000 MT godown at RMC Ujjalpur, Skill development center at Rangeimunda, high school transformation project in Bandhapalli TPS high school, Bhandapali Maa gruha, Broiler production unit under Mukshyamantri Nijukti Yoyana, rural library at Kamalanga and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Hemgiri. Further, Sri Tripathy visited old age home and advanced rehabilitation center in Sundargarh which was followed by the visit to NTPC hospital at Patrapali.
Tripathy expressed his satisfaction over implementation of the income generating projects, functioning of Matru Gruha and productive activities of the WSHGs in the district.
Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan, Project Director District Rural Development Agency Sri Bhairab Singh Patel along with senior district level officers presented necessary data and information in course of this visit.
