Puri: On the occasion of World AIDS Day today, the Puri district administration has organized several events on the theme “Communities make the difference” to create awareness about the HIV/AIDS among the people.
The District AIDS Prevention & Control Society (DAPCS), Puri, a unit of Odisha State AIDS Control Society, held a rally to spread awareness about the symptoms, causes and preventives of the pandemic disease HIV/AIDS that has taken number of lives.
The students, health workers, NGOs and people from all walks of life participated in the rally holding banners and placards to spread awareness.
A general meeting and blood donation camp were also organized by DAPCS at the Gopabandhu Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya here on the occasion.
World AIDS Day, held each year on December 1, is an opportunity to celebrate and support global efforts to prevent new HIV infections, increase HIV awareness and knowledge, and support those living with HIV.
The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is “Communities make the difference”.
