Chennai Techie Helps NASA Find Debris of Vikram Lander

Chennai: A Mechanical Engineer working in a technology firm in Chennai has helped NASA find the debris of the Vikram Lander that was sent by India under the Chandrayan 2 mission. Taking inputs from Shanmuga Subramanian and Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera team found the debris in the US space agency’s images.

New pictures released by NASA today show the exact location on the Moon’s surface where Vikram lander had landed by the Chandrayaan-2 mission earlier in September this year.

Commenting on the new images of the Vikram impact site, in a statement, Nasa said, “Despite the loss, getting that close to the surface was an amazing achievement,”.

Further it said that, these pictures are the result of weeks of work involving Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera team and Shanmuga Subramanian, a Chennai-based techie who first located the debris in the US space agency’s images.
