Ganjam: Awareness Campaigning ‘Bikash Rath’ Joins Digital Bandwagon

Chatrapur: With a thrust on Transparency and Technology, the two major components of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 5T mantra of governance, the Ganjam District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has redesigned its Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign in line with the 5T action plan for greater participation of people in decision making process at the grassroots levels.

The innovative IEC campaign ‘Bikash Rath’, first of its kind in the country, has been flagged off by the DRDA here today to encourage community participation in the implementation of various schemes and programmes.

The agency has tapped the modern communication tools and technologies to the make the campaign impactful. The IEC campaign through LED based visual content will be focusing on Rural Housing, MGNREGA, Skill Development through DDU-GKY, OLM, Toilet usage under SOSO among others, said Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange.

The campaign will cover all 503 Gram Panchayats of Ganjam. For this, three Bikash Raths have been rolled out with each Rath spending around two hours in each GP.  Speaking about the IEC campaign, Project Director, Ganjam DRDA, Siddharth Shankar Swain said that the basic purpose of Bikas Rath is dissemination of information with specific stress on ‘Participation & Feedback’ linking to the Transparency and Technology parameters of 5T.

The IEC campaign aims at encouraging more participation of people in MNREGS, speedy completion and convergence with focus on rainwater harvesting in Rural Housing and sustained usage in SOSO toilets. Besides, it will also highlight the new grievance redressal mechanism of DRDA. Through Bikash Rath, the DRDA will also create awareness on skill development programmes run by ORMAS and OLM activities.
