Odisha CM Grieves Passing Away of Padma Bhusan Dr. Trilochan Pradhan

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condoled the passing away of eminent physicist and Padma Bhusan awardee Dr. Trilochan Pradhan.


Born on 3rd January 1929, Pradhan obtained his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1956.

He headed the Theoretical Nuclear Physics Division at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics from 1964-74, was the first director of the Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar from 1974-89. He served as the vice chancellor of Utkal University from 1989-91.

Pradhan had received the Kalinga Ratna in 2018; Kalinga Samman in 2014; Padma Bhusan in 1990; and Meghnad Saha Award in 1980.
