Transformation of Governance: Odisha leads In Adoption of Technology

Bhubaneswar: Going one step ahead in transformation of the governance system in the state, the Odisha government has taken a bold decision to do away with a number of age old practices that bothered the common people a lot. As part of this, the state government has decided to abolish the requirement of solvency certificate. Under the 5T Initiative, the government is committed to bring in transparency and accountability into the governance system and provide the common man their rightful claim.

The Government of Odisha led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has taken on itself to clear the bottlenecks in the way of development and has taken a number of revolutionary steps that nobody in the country have ever did. The government has also decided to use technology, an important component of the 5T Initiative, to provide various services to the common man. Naveen announced that some of the important certificates such as income certificate, residence certificate, and all miscellaneous certificates will be available online. There would be no more requirement of people to queue up at the Tahasildar offices for the same. The Chief Minister also took the decision that all theses certificates will be issued without any fees. A simple self declaration will be enough for the people while dealing with government departments.

These decisions of the government are going to help millions of people who need certificates starting from applying for jobs to getting different government services including scholarships and other benefits. Making availability of certificates will definitely help those thousands of students who are applying for joining educational institutions. This will benefit about 50 lakh people who are applying for certificates.

Another revolutionary step taken by the government is bringing up a specialized app for payment of land revenue. The special app ePAUTI will help common people to pay revenue from their smart phones thereby avoiding the cumbersome visits to the revenue offices.

Similarly, the government has decided to do away with the requirement of legal heir certificates for government officials. The information based on the service books will be taken as final. It will help the families to easily get their dues.

All these initiatives are being taken under the 5T program of the government of Odisha. With the active involvement of 5T Secretary V Kartikeya Pandian, a visible transformation is going on the ground and people have started getting the benefits. Odisha is the flag bearer in the country in implementing these steps.
