Bhubaneswar: Queen’s Baton Relay, the traditional curtain raiser to the Commonwealth Games will be in India for four days from 12th to 15th January 2022. This is for the first time that Odisha will also host the Queen’s Baton Relay along with other cities such as Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru reinforcing the fact that Odisha has become one of the most favorite destinations of Sports and Games in the country.
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay will be in India for four days during its 72 country journey. Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra has informed about the formation of a three member committee that will prepare and conduct the Queen’s Baton Relay event for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. The committee will consist of IOA Executive Council members Rakesh Gupta, Mukesh Kumar and Netball Federation of India Executive Council member Hariom Kaushik.
The relay will be held in Delhi on January 12th, Ahmedabad on January 13th, Bengaluru on January 14th and Odisha on January 15th. The baton will cover a distance of 140,000 kms in 269 days and will be held by about 7500 people in the 72 countries. The Birmingham Commonwealth Games will be held from 28th July to 8th August 2022.
