Sambalpur: As many as 59 cases of Jaundice have been detected in Sambalpur Municipal area in the last thirty days. According to district Health Department officials, many of the positive cases have been detected from Kumbharapada, Saliabagicha, Pensionpada and Dhubapada areas of the town. Most of the infections have been detected among children under the age of fourteen.
The Health Department has intensified the efforts to contain the disease and have started massive sample collection and cleanliness drive. The Jaundice is said to have been spreading due to contaminated water. Officials have also intensified testing of water at various places and have been collecting food samples also from various eateries of Sambalpur. Special doctors teams are visiting affected areas conducting health checks and are creating awareness on preventing measures.
