Bhawanipatna: On the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian is on a three-day visit to Kalahandi and Nuapada to review progress of various development projects in both the districts.
On the first day, the 5T Secretary took stock of progress of several important projects in Kalahandi district.
First he reviewed the development work of Utkela Airport. The 5T Secretary asked to complete the expansion work of airport runway by December 23 for the development of air connectivity to Kalahandi.
Pandian also visited Belkhandi’s famous Uma Maheshwar Dhabaleshwar Shiva Temple and offered his prayers to the deity. He discussed the development of the temple with the officials and committee members and suggested the District Collector to prepare the DPR within 15 days for the development of the temple.
He also reviewed the transformation work of Madanpur Rampur Community Health Centre and urged to complete the ‘Ama Hospital’ work within next six months. The 5T Secretary also reviewed the distribution of free medicines at Niramay Center.
Pandian also took stock of progress of the sandul barrage work being constructed on the Tel river and insisted to complete the work soon. The departmental authorities informed him that the work was aimed to be completed by March next year. After the completion of this barrage, 29 villages of Narla, Karlamunda and Kesinga blocks can get water through underground pipe.
Pandian also Narla Stadium and Mission Shakti Cafe and had a discussion with the players and Mission Shakti members.
In Bhawanipatna, the 5T secretary visited Police High School and discussed with the teachers and children about the school transformation facilities. The high school has been included in the third phase of transformation program. Pandian visited Asha Sagar and advised to prepare DPR within 30 days for its redevelopment.
From there, he went to Bhawanipatna bus terminal and reviewed the progress of the work and advised to finish the work within the stipulated time.
The 5T Secretary also visited Kalahandi medical college and Kalahandi University and discussed various problems and developments with the students. He informed that smart classrooms, e-library and advanced laboratory will be developed in Kalahandi University.
During his visit, the 5T Secretary also discussed about the development of the famous Lankswari Temple in Junagarh and advised the district Collector to prepare DPR in this regard soon. He also reviewed the progress of Biju Patnaik Stadium, Junagarh.
