Blue Flag certification is a globally recognised eco-label accorded on the basis of 33 stringent criteria that include environmental education and information, bathing water quality, environmental management, and conservation and safety and services in the beaches. The certification is given by the international agency ‘Foundation for Environment Education, Denmark’.
The Pati-Sonapur beach has achieved the Blue Flag certification as it fulfills the criteria.
Located right on the confluence of the river Bahuda and the Bay of Bengal, and bang on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, Pati Sonapur is one of the most exquisite beaches on the east coast.
It is the second blue flag beach of the State after the Golden beach in Puri, as per sources.
