Odisha Vigilance Arrests Malkangiri CADA Division JE Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty In DA Case

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance Department has arrested Junior Engineer, CADA Division, Malkangiri Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty in Disproportionate Assets Case. The Department has unearthed Disproportionate Assets to the tune of 236 percent of the known sources of income including one triple storeyed building with area approx 10,000 square feet, one 2-BHK flat at Bhubaneswar, 14 plots in Jaleswar, cash Rs.1.43 LAKH, one four wheeler, ETC.

According to a press release by the Department, on late night of 31.01.2024, Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty, Junior Engineer (JE), CADA Division, Malkangiri, was arrested by Odisha Vigilance and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore for possession of disproportionate assets (DA) to the tune of 236% of his known sources of income, which he could not account for satisfactorily. He has been remanded to jail custody till 13.02.2024. In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.04 dated 31.01.2024 was registered against Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty, JE, CADA Division, Malkangiri and his spouse U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018. During house searches, the following movable and immovable assets worth Crores were unearthed in the name of Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty, JE and his family members:

1) One triple storeyed building located at Deulipanchughanta, Jaleswar, Balasore with area approx 10,000 Sqft.

2) One 2-BHK Flat in Green Homes Apartment at Raghunathpur, Bhubaneswar with area approx 1200 Sqft.

3) 14 plots in prime area of Jaleswar Town.

4) Cash Rs.1,43,220/-.

5) 1 four wheeler (Honda City) & 2 two wheelers worth about Rs.12.70 lakh.

6) Bank & Insurance deposits worth approx Rs.8 Lakhs.

7) Gold and household articles worth over Rs.14.18 Lakhs.

After thorough search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sanjaya Kumar Mohanty, JE, CADA Division, Malkangiri were calculated and he was found in possession of disproportionate assets which were 236 % in excess of his known sources of income. Investigation of the case is in progress.
