First NUA Odisha Global Summit on Growth & Employment Concludes on High Note

Bhubaneswar: The first ever NUA Odisha Global Summit on Growth & Employment, has concluded on a high note in Bhubaneswar.

The prominent industry leaders, policymakers, educators from across the world gathered to brainstorm on Odisha’s economic growth potential and expansion of the Skilled In Odisha ecosystem at the two-day summit.

Deliberating on the second day of summit, Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary Industries Department, highlighted the transformation of Odisha from an agrarian society to a manufacturing & services driven economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Sujata Rout Karthikeyan, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Mission Shakti Department, has narrated the empowered tales of women, who two decades ago, were limited to their households. Now, these women travel to overseas locations like Dubai and Singapore bringing back stories of change for their families and society, leading to transformation, she added.

A coffee table book titled ‘Micro Economics, Macro Impact’ was launched on second day of the summit featuring inspiring success stories of nano entrepreneurs benefited by Swakalpa, the State Government’s flagship self-employment and entrepreneurship skill development program.

As many as 13 MoUs have been signed between different agencies of Odisha Government and leading companies to further strengthen the Skilled In Odisha ecosystem and build advanced training facilities.

Microsoft, Infosys, Johnson Lifts, OYO Hotels & Homes, The English and Foreign Languages University, Kaynes Semicon & Phillips Machine Tools were among the organisations who will collaborate with the State Govt in building NuaOdisha

The first NUA Odisha Global Summit on Growth & Employment in Bhubaneswar saw brainstorming on Odisha’s growth story, the opportunities for investment and skill development and making its youth into futuristic skilled workforce.

As many as 16 power packed sessions during the 2-day summit had participation of industry captains, HR heads, academia, policymakers along with skill sector stakeholders from the state.

The Valedictory Ceremony of the program was graced by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Skill Development and Technical Education Department, Alka Misra, Chairperson OSDA and Reghu G, Director DTET & CEO OSDA who thanked and appreciated the participation of all and for the ideas and suggestions in the direction.
