Bhubaneswar: Many parts of Odisha are under the grip of a sizzling heatwave condition on Monday with day temperature soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in 32 places.
As per the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Baripada was the hottest place in the state recording 44.8°C.
Angul and Boudh recorded 44.3°C and 44.1°C respectively. The temperature touched 44°C in Talcher and Bhawanipatna. Dhenkanal registered 43.2°C. Bolangir, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Nayagarh, and Nuapada recorded 43°C each. Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur recorded 42.9°C each.
The maximum day temperatures in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were 42.5°C and 41.3°C respectively.
Meanwhile, the IMD predicted that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over several districts of Odisha during the next four to five days.
