SIT to Investigate Khallikote Murder Case, Senior IPS Officer RK Sharma to Camp at Chhatrapur

Bhubaneswar: A Special Investigation Team of Odisha Police will probe into the Khallikote murder case in Ganjam district, ordered DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi on Friday.

The team will arrest the rest accused persons and collect scientific and forensic evidence related to the case.

The SIT will submit the chargesheet within 30 days for early trial of the case. It will give status report to IG of Police, Southern Range from time to time, the DGP ordered.

In view of the pre-poll violence in Khalikote, senior IPS officer and ADGP (Head Qtrs) Radha Krishna Sharma will camp at Chhatrapur to oversee law and order situation in Ganjam district.
The senior IPS officer will camp at Chhatrapur from May 17 to May 21.

Earlier, condemning the Khallikote incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that such incidents of violence have no place in our democracy and civil society.

The Chief Minister also expressed his hope that the police will take strong and exemplary action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
