Election Commission Accepts Application of Dipali Das, Allows Rechecking of 13 EVMs In Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has approved the application of BJD MLA candidate from Jharsuguda Dipali Das for the rechecking of EVMs.

The ECI has allowed the rechecking of 13 EVMs in Jharsuguda.

According to the standard operating procedure issued and the legal position, checking and verification process can be initiated within 4 weeks of verification of the status of Election Petition filed in the respective constituencies from the Registrars of the respective High Courts by CEOs, the ECI said in a statement.

“The technical Standard Operating Procedure enumerating the methodology and steps for checking and verification of burnt memory/microcontroller of EVM units will be issued by the Commission in due course before the end of the election petition period of July 19, the statement added.

Dipali Das has been defeated by a margin of 1333 votes in the recently concluded Assembly elections. Unsatisfied with the results, Das sought the re-verification of the EVMs, suspecting counting or EVM errors.
