Low Pressure: SRC Asks Collectors of 13 Dists to Review of Preparedness Measures
Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked the Collectors of 13 districts to review the preparedness measures in view of Low Pressure over North Bay of Bengal.
Satyabrata Sahu, Special Relief Commissioner & Additional Chief Secretary wrote to the Collectors of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul, directing them to take necessary measures to deal with the situation.
“Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal & adjoining Bangladesh, a Low Pressure Area has formed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move westnorth-west wards across Gangetic West Bengal & Jharkhand during next 2 days. Under its impact there may be heavy rain and flood like situation in the north Odisha. it is, therefore, requested to review the preparedness at the district level, take appropriate action and intimate the situation of the district from time to time”, the letter reads.
