New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors in nine states and new Lieutenant Governor for Union Territory Puducherry. According to a Press Communiqué from the Rashtrapati Bhawan, The President has accepted the resignation of Shri Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan and former Tripura Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. The President has also appointed former Rajya Sabha MP Om Prakash Mathur as Governor of Sikkim. Former Union Minister Santosh Gangwar has been appointed as Governor of Jharkhand and Ramen Deka has been made Governor of Chhattisgarh. C.H. Vijayashankar, former Karnataka Minister, has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya. C.P. Radhakrishnan the present Governor of Jharkhand, has been shifted as the Governor of Maharashtra. Further, Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator for the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Sikkim Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and will also be in additional charge as the Governor of Manipur. Former administrator K. Kailashnathan has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.
