Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, at least six people were killed and five others sustained injuries after a vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a truck in Sundargarh district early Saturday.
The mishap took place near the Gaikanapali area under Hemgiri Police limits in the district.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the van carrying a kirtan group hit the truck from behind.
The ‘kirtan’ group had reportedly visited Chakkplai village for a Diwali event and was returning to their home villages when the accident occurred.
Six members of a ‘kirtan’ group died on the spot, and five others were injured, as per reports.
The deceased people were from Kandagoda and Samarpinda villages in the district. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
The local people blocked the road demanding compensation for the families of the victims.
