Bhubaneswar: The Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) will undergo massive transformation as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved the master plan for the infra and human resources development of the university.
The Odisha Government has decided to spend Rs 1,500 crore in three phases in three years, including Rs 1000 crore in first year, for the transformation of OUTR, which was previously known as College of Engineering and Technology (CET).
The OUTR will be developed at par with the reputed technical institutions like IIM, IIT ଓ NIT. The Chief Minister has approved the master plan for the development of OUTR.
Currently, 4600 students are studying at OUTR. It will be developed with a target to enroll 10,000 students in the next five years.
The Chief Minister has reviewed the infrastructure, management, and teaching of OUTR and urged to develop into a leading institution in the field of technical education and research. He also emphasized on the quality of education and research.
Recently, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian visited the OUTR campus to assess the state of infrastructure development at the university. He held discussions with the faculty and students regarding the master plan for the development of the institution.
Previously known as the College of Engineering and Technology, the OUTR today has made a name for itself for quality technological institution of the country. The State Cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved a proposal to transform the Bhubaneswar-based government-run College of Engineering and Technology (CET) into Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) in July last year.
The Odisha Assembly had passed the Odisha University of Technology and Research Bill 2021, clearing way for the upgradation and rechristening of CET into a non-affiliating Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR) Unitary University.
