Berhampur: A Police ASI in Ganjam district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for allegedly taking bribe from a person to him in a case.
Manas Kumar Rout, A.S.I. of Police of Vegiput Outpost under Khalikote P.S., Ganjam District has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance near a betel shop located in front of the OutPost, while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 3000 from a complainant to help him in a case earlier registered in Khalikote PS.
The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused ASI, the vigilance said.
Following trap, simultaneous searches are going on at the office and rented house of Rout from DA angle. In this connection, a case has been registered against the ASI at Berhampur Vigilance P S. Investigation is in progress against him, the Vigilance stated.
