Koraput: In what could be seen as a perfect initiative of taking the governance system more closure to the common man under the 5T Initiatives, the Koraput District administration has organized Panchayat Level grievance redressal meetings in all the blocks on Monday.
The officials including the Block Development officers participated in the meetings and listened to the complaints and grievances of the villagers and redressed them. While many of the grievances were redressed instantly on the spot, other were noted and escalated to the concerned departments for further action.
Various types of grievances such as old age pension, enrolment in social welfare benefit schemes, issues of SHGs, farm loans etc., were heard by the officials and redressed to the satisfaction of the villagers. Each Panchayat Grievance meeting saw the attendance of hundreds of people who were seen satisfied with the efforts of the administration.
Speaking on the initiative by the administration, Koraput Collector Abdaal M Akhtar says this is a part of our efforts to reach out to the common man who is unable to visit us for their grievances. The response has been tremendous. Thousands of grievances have been solved at the spot and the remaining will be solved as soon as possible. This will be a routine affair. We want governance to reach to the doorsteps of the people. Follow up review meetings will also be held on the outcome of the Panchayat level grievance meetings, he added.
