Berhampur: The Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday arrested a revenue official from Ganjam district for allegedly taking bribe.
Debasish Majhi, Revenue Inspector (RI), K. Barida R.I. Circle under Kodala Tahasil, Ganjam district has been apprehended by the vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.25,000 from the complaint (owner of vehicle) for release of his tipper.
The vehicle owner paid Rs 30,000 as fine amount; however the RI refused to release his tipper unless further Rs 25,000 would be paid by him as bribe, the vigilance informed.
Following trap, simultaneous searches are being launched in Majhi’s residential quarter and other places by the vigilance.
