Berhampur: The Berhampur Police on Monday detained seven snake charmers from Gajapati Nagar area here for moving suspiciously.
During the enquire, the Baidyanathpur Police found the detained persons spoke Hindi and belonged to Dholpur district in Rajasthan. They were dressed like Sadhu in saffron cloth.
Dholpur police was contacted by Berhampur Police to verify their details.
During investigation it was found that they were snake charmers by profession and since catching snake it banned now, they roam and sell Rudraksha seeds and other items all over the country, the police said.
Further verification was done and it was found that they did not have any criminal case in their name in their locality. They were dropped in Railway station to return to Rajasthan, the police added.
