Ganjam: District-Level Meeting on ‘Biomedical Waste Management’ Held

Chatrapur: A district-level meeting on ‘Biomedical Waste Management’ was held here on Thursday.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Ganjam Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida to discuss various steps for the proper management of biomedical waste.

Biomedical waste is a potential health hazard. Hence, biomedical waste management is an important component of health services delivery towards ensuring safety of patients, caregivers, hospital staff as well as general public and environment.

At the meeting, emphasis was given on proper management of biomedical waste generated by the hospitals and diagnostic centres in the district.

The meeting was attended by BeMC Mayor Sanghamitra Dalai, Deputy Mayor E. Vivek Reddy.

BeMC Commissioner J Sonal, CDMO and other senior officials also participated in the discussion.

Concerned authorities were instructed to ensure proper transfer of biomedical wastes to the nearest BMWTF.
