686.5 Kg Seized Ganja Destroyed in Designated Incinerator at Seragada

Berhampur: Based on the recommendations of the District Drug Disposal Committee, following due procedure and court guidelines, seized Ganja or cannabis weighing 686.5 Kgs were destroyed in the designated incinerator Seragada today.

According to the police sources, the destroyed Ganja corresponds to Eight NDPS cases of Baidyanathpur PS ( 2 cases), Berhampur Sadar PS ( 3 cases) and Golanthara PS ( 3 cases). Destruction was done at the Biomedical waste incinerator plant located at Seragada today. Seized Ganja were stored in Police station Malkhanas and court Malkhanas occupying precious space. This destruction has freed up precious space in the Police station Malkhanas. Further destruction will continue for remaining pending NDPS cases

On the directions of Courts and as per the guidelines laid down in the NDPS Act, the District Drug Disposal Committee was formed under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police Dr. Saravana Vivek M and other members and other members as Superintendent Excise , Deputy collector, Subashree Rath OAS and DySP Headquarters Akshya Nayak.
