Malkangiri: Odisha’s Director of Intelligence Sanjeeb Panda today hoisted the Tricolor at Jodamba Police Station in the Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day of India. The Republic Day Celebrations were attended by scores of school students and villagers from the nearby areas of Jodambo. Amitabh Thakur, Addl. D.G. of Police, Operations, Anirudh Singh, DIG SIW, Rajesh Pandit, DIG (South-West) Odisha, Sh Madan Kumar DIG BSF, SP Malkangiri, Sh Khulbe CO BSF, BSF Officers and other district officials were also present during the occasion. The senior officials are on a two day visit to the remote Swabhiman area that was hitherto known as the cut off area and once was a den of the Maoists.
The people of the Cut Off area had celebrated Vijay Dibas yesterday in the presence of the senior police officials. The day is celebrated to mark the victory of the villagers against the Maoists at Janturayi on 25/1/2020. During their visit to various places of the Swabhiman Anchal, the senior officials interacted with the villagers, distributed gifts to school children and held discussions about the various developmental activities undertaken by the government to bring in security and complete economic development of the area. After the construction of the Gurupriya Setu by the Government of Odisha, the Swabhiman Anchal has seen rapid development in all sectors including health, education, communication, agriculture and others. The Maoist menace has dwindled to negligible levels and the people are joining the mainstream. Gone are the days when silence was punctuated by IED explosions and gun shots, now it’s the horn of public transport. Celebrations and laughter of the local populace has brought about a vibrant atmosphere.
Truly a 5-T transformation from Cut-off area to being Swabhiman Anchal.
