Berhampur Red Cross School For the Blind And Deaf To Be Transformed Under 5T Initiatives

Berhampur: Odisha’s oldest school for the blind and deaf, the Helen Keller Red Cross School for the Deaf and Blind is all set to be transformed under the Government of Odisha’s 5T Transformation Initiatives. As part of the initiative, the school for the specially-abled will be transformed into a smart school having all modern teaching and learning facilities. Situated at Ambapua in Ward number 42 under Berhampur Municipal Corporation, the School will have smart classrooms, equipment, smart library, science laboratory, toilets, playgrounds and reading rooms. The school will also have computerized Braille teaching facilities along with advanced audio systems and arrangements will be made to impart education with the help of state-of-the-art technologies.

Berhampur Municipal Commissioner J Sonal along with Sub-Collector Asutosh Kulkarni visited the school and reviewed the development works. They had an interaction with the Principal regarding various issues associated with the school. Established in 1974, the school is being run by the district administration and has a large number of alumnae who are well placed all across the country.

The Government of Odisha has taken up the transformation of many schools in Berhampur. Along with the Helen Keller Red Cross School for the Deaf and Blind, the Courtpeta Laxman Nayak High School, Gandhinagar Barracks High school, Simhadri Panda High School, and Old Berhampur High Schools are being transformed under the 5T High School Transformation Program.
