Berhampur: Miscreants Hurl Crude Bombs at Police Team during Raid, 5 Detained

Berhampur: Miscreants have allegedly hurled crude bombs at a police team during a raid in Berhampur on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Srikshetra Vihar locality under Bada Bazaar police limits the city. No policeman has been injured in the incident.

So far, five persons have been detained by the police. They are being interrogated.

Acting on an FIR that crude bombs were hurled at a house late on Tuesday night, a case was registered and a police team carried out a raid to nab the accused, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.

The accused persons hurled bombs at the police team, he said.

The case was registered under the Explosives Act and a probe was initiated. Bada Bazaar PS IIC and Berhampur SDPO formed a bigger team to nab the accused persons, the SP added.

Police seized a few crude bombs and bomb-making materials from the premises of the accused.

Meanwhile, a member of the Bomb Disposal Squad of police, named Ashok Pradhan sustained very minor injuries while defusing the seized crude bombs.
