Odisha Govt to Establish Directorate for Odisha Parivar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday approved a proposal for setting up of Directorate for Odisha Parivar to strengthen relation between NROs & State Govt.

The State Government will establish the Directorate for Pravasi Odia Affairs under the Culture Department to have a better connect with the Pravasi Odias within the country and across the world. It will engage with the diaspora in the growth journey of Odisha.

The Directorate will act as a one stop point of contact and support system for Pravasi Odias who live in other part of the country and across the world.
It will act as a single point of interface with the government departments for resolution of specific issues relating to labour, students, cultural promotion, clearances etc. It will enlist Odia Associations and also prepare a list of Jagannath temples located in different parts of the world.

The Directorate will work towards promoting Odia consciousness, celebration of Utkal Diwas, organising World Odia Conferences etc. The directorate will develop a dedicated portal for the Pravasi Odias which will help in getting information about their issues.

The Cabinet also approved three mega drinking water projects in Koraput and Nabarangpur districts. A total of 2,46,340 people of 375 villages under 52 panchayats in the two districts will be benefitted by the drinking water projects, which will be developed at the cost of Rs 479,50,00,000 within 24 months.

The Cabinet also approved a rural piped water supply project in Cuttack with an allocation of Rs 153,51,25,281. The work for the project will be completed within 24 months. The project will cater to the needs of 1,47,542 people of 23 panchayats under Tangi-Choudwar block in Cuttack district.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to implement six mega piped water supply projects in Bolangir district.
