Heatwave Conditions Likely to Continue over Odisha during Next 2 Days: IMD

Bhubaneswar: Heatwave condition are likely to continue over Odisha during the next two days and abate thereafter, informed the IMD’s Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The IMD has issued orange alert for Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Khordha and Cuttack districts for next 24 hours for heatwave conditions. Similarly, yellow warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur and Balangir districts.

According to a morning bulletin of IMD, Jharsuguda town in western Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius till 11.30 a.m. on Thursday.

Similarly, capital city Bhubaneswar sizzled with a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, as many as 30 places of Odisha recorded a maximum day temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Government has declared summer vacation of all schools from Friday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik issued the order for both government and private schools from classes 1-12.
