Aska Ex-Revenue Inspector Convicted in Bribery Case, Sentenced to 1 Yr Jail

Berhampur: A former revenue inspector in Ganjam district was convicted in a bribery case by the Vigilance court here on Wednesday.

Jogendra Kumar Behera, Ex-Revenue Inspector, Aska in Ganjam district, who was chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance in Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No.19 dt.20.06.2014 U/s 13(2) r/w13(1)(d) of PC Act,1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant in order to process files in connection with mutation case, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.

Behera has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year and to pay fine of Rs.5000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 1 month for the offence U/s 7 PC Act, 1988, the Vigilance said.
