Five Odisha Fishermen Illegally Detained By Andhra Fishermen Rescued

Berhampur: Five Odisha fishermen who were illegally detained by the fishermen belonging to the neighbouring Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh were rescued by the Arjyapalli Marine Police today. According to reports, the five fishermen were forcefully detained by the Andhra Pradesh fishermen off the coast and taken to Bhabunipadu in Srikakulam district when they objected the Andhra Pradesh fishermen for fishing in the No Fishing zone. While there were 19 Odisha fishermen were there at the time, 14 of them could escape and five were forcefully detained. Getting information regarding the incident, the Arjyapalli police swung into action and rescued them from Bhabunipadu area of Srikakulam district. All the fishermen are safe. They have alleged that the Andhra Pradesh fishermen tortured them during their detention.
