Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Rakesh Patra has made it into the final of the FIG World Challenge Cup 2023 being held at Szombathely, Hungary. He qualified for the finals with an outstanding performance score of 13.60 in the qualifiers. Rakesh Patra is from Puri and a product of the AM/NS India Gymnastics High Performance Center.
He is also selected to represent India for the upcoming Asian Games, 2023 and is also preparing for 2024 Olympics. A shoulder injury had affected his participation in the Tokyo Olympics. Three gymnasts from Odisha Gymnastics HPC are participating in the FIG World Challenge Cup in Hungary – Rakesh Patra and Saif Sadik Tamboli (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics) and Pranati Nayak (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics).
