Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Thursday launched the ambitious Odisha4Silicon-2023 programme.
The event aims to amplify the IT ecosystem in Odisha and make it a global leader in semiconductor and chip manufacturing hub.
During the event, the Electronics & Information Technology Department has signed major MoUs with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) and Synopsis.
Odisha’s ambitious Electropreneur Park Design Challenge under OChip programme and the IESA Odisha Chapter & Campus Connect Programme were also launched during the ceremony.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik addressed the event through video message and welcomed the galaxy of industry leaders, IT Majors, dignitaries and academia present at the inaugural session of Odisha4Silicon-2023.
The Chief Minister said that Odisha4Silicon-2023 will enable to create an encouraging semiconductor ecosystem, driving innovation, economic growth, and generate employment opportunities for our people and help in achieving inclusive growth of our State.
The event was graced by E&IT Minister Tusharkanti Behera, Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, E&IT Principal Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra, Skill Development and Technical Education Department Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, E&IT Department Special Secretary Manas Panda, IESA President K Krishna Moorthy and eminent dignitaries.
As part of the MoU, the IESA will facilitate Government of Odisha in development of capacity building programs and in the promotion of the state’s semiconductor ecosystem through organization of events and conceptualization of knowledge material.
The MoU with global semiconductor giant Synopsys will involve collaboration in areas such as the O-Chip program, talent transformation, workforce development, readiness assessment of the state in semiconductor and VLSI domains, and internship and placement assistance to students of Odisha’s engineering institutions.
Similarly, the MoU with the ESC will promote Electronics and IT/ITeS exports from the country. ESC will be provided with built up space to set up a dedicated office for Odisha.
