CM Naveen Inaugurates Global Chip Design Leader Synopsys’s Design & R&D Unit in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a big boost to Odisha’s ESDM ecosystem, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated the global chip design leader Synopsys’s Design and Research & Development centre in Bhubaneswar.

It is the first design and R&D unit of Synopsys in the Eastern India. The centre will play a vital role in strengthening the semiconductor and electronic chip design ecosystem in Odisha, create high-level employment and boost the semiconductor design, research and development sector in the state.

In this center, more than 300 skilled design engineers have been provided with ample space to work.

A high-level delegation of the Odisha Government has successfully held discussions with major IT and semiconductor companies during its US visit and the multinational companies have agreed to set up their units in Bhubaneswar.
The design, research and development center at Synopsys is one of the reflection of the dedicated efforts of the state government.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed Synopsys to Odisha and promised all support from the State Government.

He said that he was delighted that one of the most advanced chip design technology companies Synopsys has set up its centre in Bhubaneswar. This will lead to the development of a large ESDM ecosystem in the State and create opportunities for the youth and give Odisha a unique identity in the field of electronic chip design automation.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by E&IT Minister Tusharkanti Behera, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian, E&IT Department Principal Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra, E&IT Department Special Secretary Manas Panda, VP Synopsys Amit Sanghani, SVP(HAT) Dr Shivananda Koteshwar, Group Dir(R&D) Rashmi Mohapatra and other senior officers.

Founded in 1986, Synopsys is headquartered in California, US. It is known as a leading company in the field of semiconductor manufacturing in the world. The company operates in more than 25 countries and employs more than 19,000 people.

The E&IT Department is making significant efforts to attract major investments into the state in IT/ITES & ESDM sector. The State Government has launched Odisha Semiconductor Fab Policy to leverage potential & cost advantages in Semiconductor and Fab Manufacturing sector.
