Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to impose a complete ban on paan, gutka and other tobacco-related products inside the premises of Srimandir in Puri from January 1, 2024.
The SJTA said that the use of paan and gutka is against the sanctity of the temple. Apart from devotees, the SJTA also requested all staff, servitors and not to consume paan and gutka inside the temple premises.
The violators will be penalized, the SJTA stated.
Even though restrictions were earlier clamped on consumption/use of tobacco-related products inside the Srimandir premises and there are also provisions for penalty for any violation, such norms were not being strictly enforced, it added.
