Bhubaneswar: A retired college principal in Odisha’s Jajpur district has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment following his conviction in a bribery case.
Surendranath Mishra, Ex-Principal(retired), Biraja Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Jajpur, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for issuance of College Leaving Certificate (CLC), was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
Mishra has been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and fine of Rs.5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 months more for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988, the Vigilance said in a statement.
Odisha Vigilance has also decided to move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mishra.
