Ama Hospital: Odisha Govt to Open Aahaar Kendras in 93 More Hospitals

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is planning to open Aahaar Kendras in 93 more hospitals that are being taken up for transformation under the 5T ‘Ama Hospital’ initiative.

As per the decision of the Government, as many as 147 public health facilities have been undertaken for transformation under 5T initiative of “Ama Hospital” in the first phase. It has been targeted to complete all the works under different components in these Hospitals latest by 31.10.2023.

Out of these 147 hospitals, Aahaar Kendras are available only in 54 hospitals leaving a balance of 93 hospitals. As Aahaar Kendras provide great support to the patient attendants, the Health and Family Welfare Department has urged the Housing & Urban Development Department to explore opening of Aahaar Kendras in these 93 hospitals.

State Health Secretary Shalini Pandit wrote a letter to the Principal Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Department in this regard.

The Health Secretary also urged the H&UD Department to consider running Aahaar Kendras attached to public health facilities for 7 days a week.

“It is reported that in all the hospitals of the State, Aahaar Kendras are functioning for six days in a week and remain closed on Sundays. As patients come to Government hospitals on all days of the week, it is requested to kindly consider running Aahaar Kendras attached to Public health facilities for 07 days a week”, the letter reads.
