Amid Cyclone Yaas, Odisha Ensures Supply of Medical Oxygen to Needy States

Bhubaneswar: Ever since the second wave of the pandemic has hit India and the need for medical oxygen in the country rose manifolds, Odisha stood as a savior and saved thousands of lives.

Even the cyclone Yaas has hit the State, the Odisha Government has ensured the supply of liquid medical oxygen smoothly to needy States.

Under the close supervision and escort of Odisha Police, four oxygen tankers are on way from Angul to Hyderabad and two more tankers from Jajpur to Berhampur and Bhubaneswar.


Odisha continues to supply medical oxygen to 15 states besides meeting its own need for treatment of the critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Odisha has facilitated the loading and transport of nearly 21478 MT of medical oxygen by 1167 tankers to Covid hospitals in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Chandigarh and Kerala in the last 33 days.
Earlier, while reviewing the State’s preparedness for cyclone Yaas, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has categorically instructed the officials to ensure smooth transportation of tankers even during the cyclone.
