Amid din, Rajya Sabha adjourned till 12 p.m

New Delhi:  The Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 p.m. on Friday after the Opposition continued to create uproar over various issues, including hike in GST rates, inflation, and ‘Agnipath’ scheme.

Soon after the day’s proceedings resumed, newly elected Independent Member from Uttar Pradesh Kapil Sibal repeated his oath as his earlier pledge was found to be not in order.

The Opposition demanded a discussion under Rule 267 by suspending all other business. As his efforts to placate the agitating members went in vain, Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu adjourned the House till 12 p.m.

Naidu told the members that they have wasted one precious week of the people and Parliament and also reminded them that no placards and items are allowed inside the House.

The Upper House has been witnessing protests by the opposition members since the start of the Monsoon Session on Monday.

Opposition benches are demanding a discussion on GST rate hike, Agnipath scheme, misuse of agencies and other issues.
