Are There Different Laws for Poor and Influential People: BJD on ASO Attack Incident

Bhubaneswar: Even ten days after the brutal attack on Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Baikuntha Pradhan by Governor Raghubar Das’s son Lalit Kumar, no action has been taken by the state government. Are there different laws for the poor and influential people, asked the Biju Janata Dal?

Addressing a press briefing, BJD spokesperson Lekha Samantsinghar has come down heavily on the Majhi government over the incident. The Constitution provides protection to the people and democracy in the country. No matter how powerful people are, no one is above the law, she said while strongly condemning the Puri incident.

When the President was in Puri on July 7, the Governor’s son who is a non-Odia from Jharkhand had attacked the ASO of the state government.

The ASO has complained to the Governor, Chief Minister, District Collector, DGP but no action has been taken. It is sad and heartbreaking that he did not get justice. This has exposed the lies of the BJP’s Odia Asmita.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who is talking about Odia Asmita, would have taken action. This incident is condemning and embarrassing Odisha. If the state government remains silent, it shows greed for power. Why no action is being taken against the Governor’s son, she asked?

Instead of giving justice, the ASO has been transferred while the Governor’s son is walking around. The ASO’s wife said that her husband’s life is in danger. The Chief Minister should order to arrest the Governor’s son. An ordinary person would have been arrested or not? Law is equal for all. If the culprit is not arrested, BJD will hold a protest in front of the Raj Bhawan and fight for Odia Asmita, Samantsinghar said.
