Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Monday nabbed Pradipta Kumar Rout, Junior Assistant-cum-Cashier at the Office of Superintending Engineer, Irrigation Division in Balasore district for taking bribe from a contractor for processing his file for release of his security money against the works executed by him.
The cashier was caught by the Vigilance officials while taking bribe of Rs 5000.
The entire tainted bribe has been recovered from the possession of Rout.
Following the trap, simultaneous house searches are being conducted at two locations of Rout from DA angle, the Vigilance said.
In this connection, a case has been registered at Balasore Vigilance PS under Section 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress against accused Junior Asst.-cum-Cashier, the Vigilance stated.
