Bhubaneswar: BJD President Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged the members of the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal to remain active on social media to counter mis-information.
Addressing the State Level Working Committee Meeting of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, the BJD supremo said, “Opposition believes in false narratives to mislead people. Therefore, it is essential, we must counter them with true information and keep people out of their dirty tricks. Stay connected”.
“Students are the future of this country, this society. So we have emphasized on education and training to empower the students. The Odisha Government is strengthening the education infrastructure of the state. Our skill development programs are one of the best in the country”, Naveen said.
In 2000 there were 6 universities in the state. Today there are 18 universities. In 2000 there were 3 government medical colleges. Now there are 11 government medical colleges. Many more are in the pipeline, he said.
The state government has taken many steps to promote the Odia language. Fakir Mohan Scholarship is provided to the children studying Odia language and literature.
To foster a culture of high quality research, and nurture innovation, monthly fellowship of Rupees Thirty Thousand is being given under Chief Minister Research and Innovation Fellowship programme. Besides, at school level, Students’ Academic award, Students’ leadership award and Students’ Merit-cum-Scholarship award are being given under Mukhya Mantri Sikhya Puraskar Scheme, Naveen said.
15% reservation is provided in Engineering and Medical Colleges for children studying in government schools. Infrastructures of more than 4300 schools have been transformed under the 5T school transformation programme. Further the college infrastructure will also be transformed as part of the 5T initiatives. Recruitment has always been my focus. Regular recruitment is now going on in government departments, Naveen said.
Odisha is now the second best state in the entire country in attracting investments. We have received investment offers of more than Rupees Ten Lakh Crore with a potential of creating more than ten lakh jobs. A lot of opportunities are awaiting in the IT sector also. Global majors like IBM and Deloitte have opened their development centres in Bhubaneswar. Many more are coming, Naveen said while asking the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal members to share the success stories of Odisha with their friends.
He further said, “I understand that the College Committee of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal is doing a good service oriented work in colleges. We should strengthen it. You are rendering selfless service on the platform of ‘ODISHA MO PARIVAR’. Organising Blood Donation camps, helping people during disasters.
“I appreciate your work during the Bahanaga Train tragedy. I expect, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal should always be in the forefront to serve people in distress whenever the situation demands. We are now in the midst of a glorious phase of transformation in Odisha. We have put in place one of the biggest transformation initiatives in the history of Odisha”, Naveen added.
