Berhampur: The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has introduced an amphibian weed harvester to clean weeds and floating debris along lakes, rivers, canals and water bodies in the city.
Truxor T50, the most advanced machine manufactured by Dorotea Mekaniska, will be used by the BeMC for cleaning the water bodies under its area.
Truxor is an amphibious machine, hence it can move in and out of water with ease. This becomes very useful feature especially in urban areas. Truxoris marine grade aluminum construction hence only weighs 1.5 tons. This allows Truxor to float within a water level of 30 cm. Truxor due to its narrow width of 2m and length of 5 meters can enter any small nala or canal and can navigate with ease to perform its functions. Its compactness gives the machine great maneuverability and due to its amphibian capability gives the machine extra advantage of not being limited by the water draft along the shore while operating. Due to its aluminum hull structure generate minimal ground pressure. This ensures that the machine never gets stuck and can maneuver out of slushy canal conditions on its own, the BeMC said.
Because of its amphibian capabilities, mobilization of Truxor is much more easier, does not requires a crane support for entering and lifting the equipment out of canals in normal circumstances. Shift of the equipment from one side of canal obstructions (bridges & culverts) to the other side becomes much easier as Truxor can shift to the bank from canal on its own an re- enter on the other side with ease. Since Truxor needs minimal air draft (less than 2m) it can pass under most of the bridges, making it very flexible working in most of the urban canals in the city. Designed to last, well maintained Truxor machine with routine cleaning & greasing ensures longevity.
With the raking tool, Truxor can doze large quantities of floating weed like water Hyacinth to the shore, to feed the shore mounted excavator which can directly transfer the same to trucks and to disposal sites. Truxor has multiple accessories for different kinds of requirements.
The amphibian weed harvester was inaugurated in the presence of Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, MLA Bikram Kumar Panda, Mayor Sanghamitra Dalai, Deputy Mayor E. Vivek Reddy, BeMC Commissioner J Sonal and several corporators.
The BeMC has started work for rejuvenation of Bedha Bandh in Berhampur.
