Bhubaneswar: Executive Engineer Rural Works (Electrical) Division, Berhampur Jagannath Sethy was arrested on Friday by the vigilance officers for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets.
During house searches, the vigilance unearthed assets to the tune of Rs. 7.83 crore which amounted to 360% of his known sources of income.
Sethy was arrested by the Vigilance and forwarded to court for possession of disproportionate assets which he could not account for satisfactorily, the vigilance said.
In this connection, the Vigilance has registered a case against Sethy along with his spouse and elder son under sections 13/2 read with 13(1)(b)/12 of PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Earlier on Thursday, a vigilance team led by one Additional SP, four DsSP, 10 Inspectors and other staffs conducted simultaneous house searches at 5 places in Khordha and Ganjam district of the Executive Engineer on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The vigilance officers raided Sethy’s residential four storeyed building at Gajapati Nagar, 8th Lane, Berhampur; five storeyed building located at Gajapati Nagar, 11th lane Extension, Berhampur; four storeyed building at AIIMS Nagar 3rd lane, Bhubaneswar; office of Sethy at Ambapua, Berhampur, house at his native village Puttabagada, Chhatrapur.
