Berhampur: Berhampur Police foiled an abduction bid and arrested five perpetrators while rescuing the victim safely last evening.
The accused persons have been identified as Sisir Pradhan (26), Padam Lochan Pradhan (26), Sunil Sahu (29), Amar Pradhan (19) and Prasant Kumar Choudhury (28).
Timely action by K. Nuagaon Police team has helped safe rescue of victim Jitendra Pradhan (26) of Laxmipur village under Kalabada G.P of Chikiti Block in Ganjam district.
Last evening at around 8 pm Sisir Pradhan along with four associates came to the house of Jitendra Pradhan in a car. They forcibly abducted Jitendra Pradhan from his house at knife point. While the kidnappers were passing Chikiti, the victim shouted for help seeing the police patrolling jeep.
ASI Bighnoraj Dash and other police staffs of K. Nuagaon PS who were on patrolling duty intercepted the car after chasing it. Police with the help of some local people rescued the victim and apprehended the accused persons along with car near K. Nuagaon Chhak.
Jitendra was having love affair with the sister of accused Sisir Pradhan, who after knowing about the relationship warned Jitendra not to keep any relation with his sister. But Jitendra continued with his relationship. In order to take revenge, Sisir and his associates abducted Jitendra in the car, the police said.
Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M has lauded the efforts of K. Nuagaon Police team in rescuing the victim.
