Berhampur: SP Appreciates Successful Prosecution And Conviction Of Habitual Offender in Record Time

Berhampur: The Berhampur Superintendent of Police Dr. Saravana Vivek M has expressed happiness and appreciated Bada Baazar Police SI Sasmita Sethi for successful prosecution and conviction of a habitual offender in a record time. The case pertains to one Siba Patnaik who is a habitual offender and also was accused of attempting to rape an woman in March this year. The Case was handled by SI Sasmita Sethi and Prosecution Officer was Kureshu Gouda, Addl Public Prosecutor at the Addl Sessions Court Berhampur.

The accused Siba Patnaik had trespassed into the house of the victim and forcibly dragged her and attempted to commit rape. During resistance, he also assaulted the victim causing injuries on her neck and body and after that he managed to escape. The victim instantly rushed to Bada Bazzar PS and with the help of Police the accused was apprehended and prosecuted. Earlier, the accused Siba Patnaik was arrested and forwarded in 19 Criminal cases including Criminal Assault, Snatching, Robbery and attempt to commit murder.

Due to the successful investigation by SI Sasmita Sethi and prosecution by Additional Public Prosecutor Kureshu Gouda, the case was successfully ended in conviction in the court of 2nd Additional Sessions Judge, Berhampur. The accused has been convicted for 3 and half years jail.
