Berhampur: Two Accused Sentenced to 2 Yrs Imprisonment for Assaulting 2 Persons

Berhampur: Two accused have been sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment for their involvement in the attack on two persons in Berhampur, the police said on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Jagannath Behera and Dora Behera. They belong to First Gate, Burma Colony area in Berhampur.

As per Berhampur Police, the duo assaulted Rajesh Kumar Patta and Raj Kumar Patta with iron road and stone causing injuries on their bodies.

The case has been investigated by Mahendra Kumar Sahu of Bada Bazar Police Station, who is currently IIC Berhampur Sadar Police Station. V. Prasanna Kumar Patro, Associate Lawyer, Berhampur is the prosecution officer.

As many as 15 witnesses were examined during the investigation of the case.

The accused persons Jagannath Behera and Dora Behera were convicted Under Section 324/326 of IPC and accordingly they were sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years with fine of Rs 1,000 each, Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M said in a statement.
