Berhampur: Maradarajpur vending zone, the first vending zone of Berhampur, will undergo massive transformation with the construction of a state-of-the-art vegetable market complex at its premises.
The Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has decided to build a modern vegetable market complex at the vending zone to accommodate a good number of street vendors, informed BeMC Commissioner Dr. Siddeshwar Baliram Bondar.
The three-storey modern vegetable market complex will be built at the cost of Rs 4 crore in the vending zone. The BeMC has made arrangements for all vegetable traders to sell smoothly. The people of Berhampur will get all fresh vegetable at single point.
The new vending zone is expected to be inaugurated within a year after the completion of tender. The tender process is currently underway.
The three-storey market complex will provide all kinds of amenities and facilities for the comfort of both traders and customers.
The vending zone will have parking facilities for customers and traders. There are also plans to set up cold storage facilities.
Maradarajpur vending zone was opened in the year 2011 alongside NH 217, between Courtpeta Square and Gajapati Nagar Square.
Over the years, there has been considerable rise in the number of street vendors and small traders. In order to accommodate the growing number of traders, the BeMC has decided to expand the vending zone, said an official.
